Babyletto Changing Pad

This is one of those baby products where we decided practicality mattered more than finding a completely natural option. There are beautiful changing pads made from more natural materials, but many cost well over $100—and I also wanted something I could quickly wipe clean after the inevitable messes.
The Babyletto changing pad is still a plastic-based product, but it felt like a reasonable middle ground. The waterproof surface is made without PVC, and the polyester filling is free from chemical flame retardants, polyurethane foam, vinyl and dyes. It also didn’t have the strong chemical or plasticky smell I was trying to avoid.
We use organic cotton changing-pad covers on top, which gives baby a softer natural layer to lie on while keeping the easy-to-clean pad underneath. We have a few liner options on the site and that combination is ultimately what worked best for us: organic cotton against baby, with a practical waterproof surface beneath it.
• Waterproof cover is made from food-grade polyethylene rather than PVC
• 100% polyester filling is free from chemical flame retardants, vinyl or dyes
• GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions
• Did not have the strong chemical or plasticky smell upon opening
• Firm quilted padding with contoured sides
• Includes a safety strap for added security during changes
• Measures 31 x 16 x 4 inches
• We pair it with an organic cotton changing-pad liner so baby has a natural fabric layer directly against their skin
Is this the most natural changing pad in the world? No. But diaper changes get messy fast, and for us this was an easy-to-wipe, no-weird-smell middle ground that felt a lot better once we put an organic cotton cover on top.
