Why We Chose It

The Clek Fllo in Mammoth Ziip combines serious safety features (ours honestly feels built like a tank!) with one of the better fabric options we found on a convertible car seat.

The removable cover is made from 70% Merino wool and 30% TENCEL™, creating a naturally breathable surface without added chemical flame retardants. Clek also states that all of its current Fllo fabric options are free from added flame retardants and PFAS.

This is still a conventional car seat made with plastic, metal and energy-absorbing foam, so we would not describe the entire seat as natural or completely chemical-free. 

For us, it was a realistic compromise: a very sturdy convertible car seat with thoughtfully selected fabric directly around our baby. We also love that it can grow with your child from infancy through the convertible car seat years.

Real Talk

Apparently there is no such thing as a completely natural-fiber car seat. This was one of those purchases where safety came first, but I still wanted the least-offensive material situation I could find. The Clek Mammoth felt like the best compromise: built like a tiny baby tank, but with wool/TENCEL™ fabric instead of the usual mystery synthetic car-seat cover.
